MALAYSIA: Amazon has announced that it will utilize content from Twitch streamers to train its artificial intelligence by default, unless users choose to opt out. The decision has stirred controversy among streamers who are concerned about their data being used without explicit consent. Twitch, a popular streaming platform owned by Amazon, is implementing this new policy to enhance its AI capabilities. Many streamers feel uneasy about the automatic inclusion of their content in AI training, fearing it may violate their privacy and intellectual property rights. "If this was opt-in, nobody would opt in," Mike Minton said in response to user concerns during a recent livestream. "That's honestly the answer." The broader implications of this policy could influence how other platforms handle user-generated content in AI development.
It raises questions about consent and the ethical use of digital content, indicating a need for clearer guidelines and more transparent practices.
