MALAYSIA: Former President Donald Trump is facing a lawsuit over a service that provides paid early access to posts on Truth Social, his social media platform. The plaintiffs claim that this service, known as Truth API, allows subscribers to gain financial benefits by accessing content in advance, raising concerns about ethical practices. Truth Social, launched as an alternative to mainstream social media platforms, has been under scrutiny since its inception. The platform was designed to support free speech and provide a space for conservative voices.
However, the introduction of the Truth API service, which offers a subscription model for early access, has sparked legal challenges, with critics arguing it undermines the principles of fairness and equality. "Profoundly corrupt," Plaintiffs said. This statement reflects their view that the service not only gives unfair advantages to paying users but also allows the former president to profit from the platform's operations, which they argue is ethically questionable. The lawsuit against Trump and Truth Social could have significant implications for the platform's business model and its commitment to transparency. If the court rules against the service, Truth Social may have to reassess its approach to monetization, potentially impacting its user base and financial viability.
